About AITA

AI is the global big thing and is considered as the next wave of development of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. AI Chip is the core brain of every smart device in the future. Therefore, Taiwan government initiated the “AI-on-Chip Program” to lead the technological progress of AI chip, and meanwhile founded “AI-on-Chip Taiwan Alliance” (abbreviated AITA) July 2nd 2019. More than a hundred companies, research organizations and universities had joined AITA. Four Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have been established, including “AI Chip Application”, “Heterogeneous AI Chip Integration”, “Emerging AI Processing Architecture” and “AI System Software”.
The objectives of AITA and its four SIGs include reducing R&D cost (down to 1/10), shortening product development time (by six months), doubling overall chip performance, developing key IPs for AI chips, and finally building an ecosystem for AI innovation and application. Under the guideline of “5 + 2 industrial innovations”, AITA will leverage Taiwan’s strength of semiconductor and ICT societies and continue to contribute to the world with its advances in AI Technologies.
Progress of the AI-on-Chip demonstration program
The government is promoting the "Taiwan AI Action Plan" and "5+2 Industrial Innovation Policy", which both highly reply on AI chips. The "AI-on-Chip Taiwan Alliance" (AITA) was established by the industry, academia, and research institutes with for developing edge AI chips for smart devices and connecting AIoT ecosystems from the perspective of system applications, to promote Taiwan as a global AI innovation R&D base and AI smart system exporting country.

The objectives of AI-on-Chip Program
Taiwan has strengths in semiconductors and ICT, and also has advantage in developing edge AI chips because of its complete industry chain. AITA aims at reducing the R&D cost of AI chips, shortening the development time, maintaining the competitiveness of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, and to promote Taiwan to be the global leader in edge-AI chip industry.
Vision
AITA’s members cover IC design, manufacturing, testing and packaging, EDA, and also SI (system integration) in ICT domain. AITA will coordinate the efforts from both public and private sectors towards vertical integration and interdisciplinary applications.
We believe that with the research and development of AI chips and its applications, Taiwan’s semiconductor industry will continue to lead in next wave AI revolution, and continue to contribute to a better world and better future.
